The green-backed firecrown is a small hummingbird of 10–10.5 cm length. Birds are characterised by forehead and crown with distinctive iridescent fiery red-yellow. It is distributed from the Atacama desert in Chile’s north to Tierra del Fuego in the south and in adjacent western Argentina.
